I'm a person of faith. It's not an obnoxious part of me, but it informs and shapes how I interact with the world. This isn't unusual - everyone has values and culture that define them, and faith is a part of mine.

Why does this matter? Why would I include this?

Well, for one, I chose, not-too-long, ago to work at my church for a time, because the time was right for me and for them, because I thought I could be of help for a season, and because I wanted to experience a broader world than technology and corporate 'Hollywood'.  Having made that choice, I feel compelled to defend or explain it, because it's unusual for highly motivated technical types to put aside goals, ambitions, and a career track to work at a faith-based organization. The only reason to do that involves being a person of faith.

For another, I am a person of strong convictions and values.

I think that how work is done, how people are treated, matters. I aim at integrity and a high bar for myself and others. I want to make the world a better place, through whatever I'm doing, and I have a consistent world view to drive that internal engine. I have a high value for respecting people around me and for being respected. I don't just choose what I think is expedient, I also try to choose what is right.

I know that faith isn't the only way to arrive at these, but it's how I have, and I don't want that to be hidden or minimized. I'm including this page because these are things that are woven into everyday life, but I don't talk about it much unless I'm asked to directly.

I’ve done some writing for my church in Vancouver, and I intend to make some attractive links, but on the extremely slim chance you’d like to read more of my writing, it can be found here.
